Super fun experience

Got the Hamboards Pinger last week and it's just awesome. I was looking for something chill to cruise around on and this totally fits the bill. It arrived quicker than I thought, like 4 days, which was nice. Been taking it out every day after work. It really feels like surfing on land, which is what I wanted. Definitely makes my commutes more fun. No complaints here, just a solid good time.

Reliable quality, great for cruising

This was my third Hamboards purchase, this time I went with the Logger. I've had a Pinger and a Classic before, and they've all been consistently well-made. The Logger arrived in about a week, same as my previous orders. I keep coming back because their boards really do mimic that surf feel better than others I've tried. They hold up well too; my Pinger is still going strong after a couple of years. Good to see the quality hasn't dropped. Just solid boards for carving around.

Good board, minor shipping issue

I ordered the Hamboards Classic a few weeks ago, and overall I'm happy with it. The board itself is solid and feels great, definitely gives that surfy vibe they talk about. Shipping took about 6 days to get to me in California, which was pretty standard. My only minor complaint is that the box arrived with a small tear, but luckily the board wasn't damaged. Customer service was responsive when I emailed them about the shipping status, so that was a plus. For the price, I think it's a good value, though maybe they could improve the packaging a bit for such a large item.

Just wondering if Hamboards are good for beginners? I've never surfed or longboarded before but love the idea of land paddling.

B board_fan 2 weeks ago
They can be, but it depends on the board. A Biscuit or Pesadito might be easier to start with due to their size. The bigger ones like the Classic or Logger have a steeper learning curve.

M MeeraD 2 weeks ago
Good to know. Was looking at the Classic.

B board_fan 2 weeks ago
Classic is fun, but expect to fall a few times starting out.

I started on a Classic with a land paddle and it was challenging but super rewarding. Just take it slow, find a flat, open space, and wear protection!

Thanks for the encouragement!

My HST trucks are squeaking like crazy now. How do I maintain them properly?

K KiranP 1 week ago
I just loosen and re-tighten my kingpin nuts every now and then. Sometimes that helps with the squeak, and makes sure they're not too tight.

A AkashM 1 week ago
Worth a shot, thanks.

S skate_guru 1 week ago
Squeaking is usually the pivot cups or bushings. You can get some dry lube (like graphite powder) for the pivot cups, or replace them if they're worn. For bushings, make sure they're not too compressed or cracked.

A AkashM 1 week ago
Pivot cups, got it. Any specific lube brand?
2
S skate_guru 1 week ago
Any dry skate lube works. Don't use oil-based lubes, they attract dirt.

My Hamboards Classic arrived today, but it feels super stiff. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

P PriyaG 1 month ago
Are your trucks HSTs? Those can feel a bit different at first. Definitely a learning curve.
10
R RaviK 1 month ago
It's the standard setup for the Classic, so I assume so.
5
D DeepakS 1 month ago
Yeah, mine was like that too. You can also try adjusting the kingpin nut slightly loose, but don't overdo it or you'll get speed wobbles.
3
R RaviK 1 month ago
Good tip, I'll try that carefully.

A Anjali88 1 month ago
Stiff out of the box is pretty normal for a new board, especially the Classic. You gotta break those bushings in. Give it some time and ride it a lot, it'll loosen up.
12
R RaviK 1 month ago
How long does that usually take?
5
A Anjali88 1 month ago
Depends on how much you ride. A few good sessions should do it.

Saw some posts about a Black Friday sale last year. Anyone know if Hamboards usually has good deals then? I want a Pinger.

P PankajG 1 week ago
Sometimes they also bundle deals with land paddles or apparel during those big sales. Keep an eye out for that if you need accessories too.
6
S Sana_M 1 week ago
Good call, I'll probably need a paddle.

D DealHunter 1 week ago
They definitely do Black Friday sales! Last year there were some decent discounts on complete boards, and sometimes free shipping offers. I'd hold out for it if you can.
2
S Sana_M 1 week ago
Awesome, thanks! I'll save up.
5
D DealHunter 1 week ago
Yeah, usually worth the wait for bigger items.

Thinking of upgrading my old longboard to a Hamboard. How do they really compare to regular longboards, especially for carving?

S SurferBoy 1 week ago
It's a completely different feel. Hamboards, especially with the HST trucks, are designed to mimic surfing. You get much deeper, more fluid carves than a regular longboard. It's less about speed and more about flow.
10
A Arjun_R 1 week ago
That's exactly what I'm looking for. More surfy.
6
S SurferBoy 1 week ago
You'll love it then. Takes some getting used to though.

M Max_Wave 1 week ago
I used to ride a traditional longboard, but my Hamboard Classic changed everything. The turning radius is insane, you can really pump and carve. You won't go back.

Sounds promising!

My Hamboards discount code for 10% off first order isn't working. Is there a trick to it?

G GauravT 1 month ago
I had that happen once. Ended up contacting customer support and they applied it manually. Their support is usually pretty responsive.

S ShrutiP 1 month ago
Okay, I'll try reaching out to them.

Did you sign up for the newsletter first? Usually, they email the code after you subscribe. And sometimes it's for new accounts only.

No, just the one code.

Thinking of getting a Pinger, but wondering about the shipping cost to Mumbai. Anyone ordered a complete board recently?

N NikhilK 1 month ago
Shipping for boards to India can be pricey. I ordered a Logger last year and it was around $150-200 just for shipping. It was free shipping within the US but not international.
6
N NikhilK 1 month ago
Yeah, had to pay duties on arrival. Factor that in too.
1
A AmitJ 1 month ago
Ouch, that's a lot. Did you have any customs issues?
1
S SameerM 1 month ago
I heard they sometimes have promos for international shipping during holiday sales. Might be worth waiting for Diwali or Black Friday if you're not in a hurry.

A AmitJ 1 month ago
Good point. Black Friday is coming up.

Thinking of grabbing a Hamboard for the summer, but I'm in NYC. How long does shipping usually take to get here?

N Nina V. 3 months ago
Mine got to me in like 5 days in Philly, so NYC should be similar probably.

B Brett Q. 3 months ago
Yeah, I'm on the East Coast too and it was pretty quick, definitely under a week for a board. They're usually on top of it.
